Impacts of Mining Extractive Industries on Women in Zambia

This report presents findings of a study on the impacts of mining extractive industries on women in Zambia. The study was commissioned by ActionAid Zambia as part of the Fair Green and Global (FGG) programme that aims at preventing or reducing the negative impact of extractive industries on mining-affected communities. The interventions include protecting and promoting community tenure over land and ensuring rights to land and livelihoods are not lost to mining interests, ensuring that mining companies have put in place publicly acceptable mechanisms that prevent and mitigate adverse human rights, social and environmental impacts and increasing the participation of communities in government decision-making conditioning company operations.
