This summer ActionAid the Netherlands is organising a series of three thought-provoking webinars as a part of our Climate Justice Summer School. Wondering what net-zero emissions are and why they might push us past 2 degrees of global warming? Do you want to know how human rights, and women’s rights specifically, relate to the fight against climate change?
Take a rest from marching, but keep your summer packed with Climate Justice. Sign up now for our webinar series!
Our speakers will explain how governments and companies use the goal of Net-zero to make things seem nicer than they are. Expert Teresa Anderson from ActionAid International and a guestspeaker show us the do’s and don’ts to keep the Paris Agreement within reach.
Date: 28 July 2021
Time: 19:00 Amsterdam
In an interactive session with Sophie Kwizera and Danny Wijnhoud from ActionAid the Netherlands, the concept of Just Transition will be discussed. Climate transitions in the agriculture sectors could bring benefits to billions of people – but they could also have huge negative socio-economic ramifications if done without prudence. Climate action must ensure that social justice is at the heart of the transition in energy and food systems that support all members of a community, including women, young people and marginalized communities. A just transition means getting it right, from the beginning.

In the last Webinar of our series, researcher Pontus Korsgren will speak on the Dutch approach to Climate Finance. Brandon Wu from ActionAid USA will speak on the international side of Climate Finance, its origin with the COP and how we deal with Climate Finance on a global scale.
